The EBOS committee ended a spectacular first season by having their final tournament adopted by the EBSA as the official European Open Billiards Championship. This was held alongside the later stages of the European snooker championships at Jim Leacy's Ivy Rooms in Carlow, and represented the European Association's first venture into billiards. The tournament was won in fine style by Peter Gilchrist who dominated from start to finish. This ensured that 5 out of the 6 tournaments were won by a different player.
